NZ Day 5 Journal (11/13/16): Today we tackled a portion of the famed Routeburn track, knocking out a 21km out and back hike from the Routeburn Shelter to Routeburn Falls. This trail is one of New Zealand’s nine Great Walks and it did not disappoint!
The trail winds its way through beech forest and traverses rocky cliffs and raging waterfalls. Certainly one of the best trails in the world, no joke!
Beech trees and ferns line the bulk of the Routeburn Track, and offers hikers a magical experience.

We spent an hour walking around the falls and taking it all in. Clara took this photo of me taking a long exposure of the cascading water.
